Dear friends:

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I wish to inform you that Mr. Robert Szo has tendered his resignation as President of Scripture Union Canada effective June 30, 2010. The Board on their January 29th teleconference meeting regretfully accepted Robert’s resignation.

Robert has served with Scripture Union for seven years, the last five as President. He has given good leadership to the ministry and managed staff well. Scripture Union Canada’s financial position is sound. The pull to return to pastoral ministry from which he came to work with Scripture in 2003, increasingly became stronger. When the opportunity at Church of the Resurrection in Toronto to be their Associate Priest was presented to him, Robert and Christine felt led of the Lord to accept it. We wish them God’s choicest blessings in their next season of life and ministry.

The Board has appointed a four-person Search Committee with me as Chair. The goal is to diligently confirm the appointment of the next President as early as July 1, 2010. If a successor has not been identified by then an Interim President will be appointed. We would welcome much prayer as we seek God’s direction for God’s person for Scripture Union Canada. Let’s be strong and take heart because we all hope in the Lord (Psalm 31:24).

In spite of this time of transition in leadership, the ministries of Scripture Union including SU Sportz is looking forward to having a very strong summer of ministry. Your continued prayer and financial support are much needed and appreciated.
